Liam Hemsworth, Hunger Games Cast To Play Alongside Julianne Moore In 'Mockingjay'; Veteran Actress To Be President Alma Coin -- Friend Or Foe To Jennifer Lawrence's 'Katniss Everdeen'?

Award-winning actress and children's books author Julianne Moore will be part of the cast of the two upcoming "The Hunger Games" movies. To portray the character of President Alma Coin of District 13, the 52-year old actress will be playing a significant and pivotal role in the films.  

She said, "Thanks everybody for the congratulations - I am thrilled to be joining the amazing cast of #TheHungerGames for #Mockingjay!"

Moore will be joining Jennifer Lawrence who will reprise her role as Katniss Everdeen. She will also be working closely with some of the series' original cast members, including Liam Hemsworth who portrays Gale Hawthorne, and Woody Harrelson who plays Haymitch Abernathy. Josh Hutcherson will also return as Peeta Mellarck,  

Also taking part in next instalment of the Hunger Games franchise is Australian actress Stef Dawson who will portray Annie Cresta, the love interest of Finnick Odair (played in "Hunger Games: Catching Fire" by Sam Claflin). 

Moore had received numerous nominations and awards for her performance onscreen. She had portrayed roles in a wide range of genre - from comedy to drama to thriller - such as the character of Clarisse Starling in "Hannibal" and Laura Brown in "The Hours." Her projects released in 2013 include "The English Teacher," "Don Jon," and "Carrie;" and for 2014, she appears in "Seventh Son," "Non-Stop," and "Maps to the Stars." She is also a children's books author, having written the "Freckleface Strawberry" series and a new book published this month, "My Mom is a Foreigner, But Not to Me." 

"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay" novel is the third instalment in The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins. The book will be shown in a two-part movie adaptation which will present the conclusion of the futuristic saga. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is set to be released on November 21, 2014, while Part 2 is scheduled to be shown on November 20, 2015.

The second part of the series, "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," will roll out in theaters on Nov. 22.  Watch the trailer here:
