‘Vampire Diaries’ Season 5 Spoilers: What Will Happen In The First Episode, ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’?

Less than three weeks before 'The Vampire Diaries' kick off its new season, fans can't help but speculate about the changes that will take place in Mystic falls.

While the fourth season ended with Silas revealing his true persona and chucking poor Stefan into a watery grave, the fifth season would have a different start. The vampire flick's premiere episode, "I Know What You Did Last Summer" will start with the end of summer as Elena and Caroline prepare for university.

At the end of the fourth season, Damon and Elena made fans swoon after confessing their love to each other. The vampire pair passionately spent their summer together. However, their relationship will reach a rocky state when Elena goes to Whitmore College. Can they surpass the predicaments that come with a long-distance relationship?

As Elena heads off to college, she will be living in a dormitory with her best friend turned roommate, Caroline. Bonnie should be their roommate as well but she will be replaced by a mysterious student named Megan. Unfortunately, Elena and Caroline are not yet aware that their witch best friend has already perished.

The Salvatore house will similarly gain another man as Jeremy officially moves in. He will be shown adjusting from his return from death. The synopsis does not reveal yet whether he will be struggling.

Another character that will be making a come back is Katherine. At the end of fourth season, she got the coveted vampire cure. However, being a human has its own downside especially if you're formerly a vampire with a bunch of enemies. Katherine then returns to town and begs Damon to help her now that she's devoid of her powers.

Stefan may now be saved as well as Elena senses that something is wrong with her former beau. Will it finally be revealed that Silas is impersonating Stefan all along? According to an insider, a town square party will be held wherein Silas will make a startling appearance.

Lastly, Matt and Rebekah will be back after their wild European summer. During their trip, the couple met a mystifying woman named Nadia who surprisingly followed them home. What's her reason for stalking the two?

All these questions will be answered in the 'The Vampire Diaries' season five premiere on the CW Channel on October 3 at 8 p.m. What will follow is a special airing of the pilot episode of 'The Originals', the show's spinoff series.
