New Smartphone OS: HTC And China Teaming Up Against Android? Homescreen Photo Of Alleged New OS Leaked

For the past three years, the smartphone market has been ruled by only two operating systems, Android and iOS. Windows Phone is trailing far behind, and RIM's Blackberry OS is nowhere in competition. But in case you want a new smartphone OS, you may consider this as great news.

According to a leaked photo posted on Chinese microblogging site Weibo, HTC has already come up with an entirely new operating system which was then used in one of its smartphones.

This comes a few weeks after rumors that the Taiwanese manufacturer plans to team up with the Chinese government in creating a new operating system that will integrate most of China's services and features. Fast forward to today, and it looks like the project has already come a long way.

As the picture shows, this alleged new OS  is heavily inspired by Nokia's 'tiles' in Windows Phone OS. While it seems like a mix between HTC's Blinkfeed and the live tiles of WP, the entire homescreen still looks bland and devoid of lively colors.

Even before the actual launch of this OS, some developers and users in Android forums have already nicknamed it as Sense 5.5.

In case this project pushes through, the quest to gain supremacy in the Chinese smartphone market would be more difficult for both international and local brands of Android and Windows Phone, as well as iOS from Apple.
