Ian Somerhalder Proves His Animal Lover Side: ‘Vampire Diaries’ Actor Asks Obsessed One Direction Fan To Stop Torturing Animals To Gain Attention

Apart from being Damon Salvatore, Ian Somerhalder is similarly famous for being a staunch supporter of environmental and animal rights. This is why the 34-year-old star reacted to the news of one obsessed fan who tortures animals just to be followed back on Twitter by the members of the One Direction.

The former 'Lost' actor shared the link of the news on his Twitter account: "Pls DO NOT do this-NOT FAIR to this animal-You must know that it's nearly impossible to see follow requests from fans https://www.ryot.org/crazed-one-direction-fan-claims-to-have-killed-her-dog-over-unanswered-tweet/368857."

The initiator of the Ian Somerhalder Foundation also urged fans to broaden their world instead of hurting creatures: "Wow. Nothing like a the most amazing day in Georgia-happy to be alive-then seeing young fans threatening to KILL their own dog if their fave celeb won't follow them. It's a HUGE world out there you amazing young ones. Explore it, love it, love the creatures in it-have a great weekend."

The crazed fan wrote a tweet to the members of One Direction. She threatened to break her dog's neck if she wouldn't be followed back by the 1D boys. As a proof, she included a photo of her hand gripping the poor dog's neck. Days after, the fan tweeted that her dog already died.

Aside from the dog's photo, other disturbing animal cruelty images such as a kitten inside a blender are uploaded by the girl identified as "Sally".

The Ryot has similarly posted a message of appeal to the fans of the British boy band:  "No matter how badly you want 1D to follow you on Twitter, violence is never the answer, especially towards helpless animals."
