iOS 7 Download Released Today: What Changes Should Apple Users Expect?

Today, Apple will release the download for the radically redesigned iOS 7 mobile operating system that Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook described as the biggest change to the iPhone since the device's introduction in 2007, The Los Angeles Times reports. What changes should Apple users expect?

According to ABC News, there will be seven major changes with Apple iOS 7 download; here are our favorite 5:

Design: The icons, wallpapers, and colors have all evolved. With the iOS 7, everything is brighter and flatter, and the Parallax design moves the icons as you move the phone. But your apps are still on the homescreen and you can swipe down from the top to get to your notifications. Apple apps can be hidden in folders, but now they take up the whole screen.

Search: Search is no longer located with a swipe to the left, but instead you can swipe down from the center of the homescreen to get to the search field. The iOS 7 search is more organized and has more options, but is only accessible from the homescreen.

Control Center: Apple has finally made it easier to access simple settings, with a swipe up from the bottom of the screen on any screen (including in apps). This brings you to the newly-designed Control Center, a panel with easy access to settings and other apps, which saves a lot of time and even comes with a built-in flashlight.

Siri: Your personal assistant in your phone has gotten an upgrade; she can now also be a he, with stronger and clearer voice options. Siri is also smarter, and can help with more tasks, like playing voicemail or searching Wikipedia. But he or she still doesn't always understand you, according to ABC News.

Airdrop: This may be our favorite update. Instead of having to text a photo to a friend or email yourself a recording, Apple's iOS 7 now has a new sharing technology. With Airdrop, you can drop a photo or file to a nearby friend using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. You just select the photo, select the friend and drop it to them. However, this only works with Airdrop-supported iPhones and Macs.

Apple has not confirmed what time it will release iOS 7 for download, but be sure it will be available later today, September 18.
