One Direction Louis Tomlinson To Quit Soccer? His Injuries ‘Could Affect The Rest Of The Band’

One Direction's Louis Tomlinson has been told to quit playing soccer for the Doncaster Rovers, for the sake of the rest of his One Direction band mates.

According to the UK's Daily Star, Louis Tomlinson's music management wants him to quit playing soccer for the Doncaster Rovers, after discovering their insurance premiums will skyrocket with Louis' involvement, The Independent reports.

"Players think of Louis as a squeaky-clean pop star and target him on the pitch," a source said.

"1D bosses don't want to take any chances, so they have told him to give it up. If he seriously hurt himself it could affect the rest of the band."

The 21-year-old One Direction singer bought a part of Doncaster Rovers F.C. last year and was to make his debut with the team this week, The Independent reports.

Unfortunately, Louis was forced to cancel his soccer debut in a match against Scunthorpe, after suffering an ankle injury during a charity game benefiting the Stiliyan Petrov Cancer Foundation. Some speculate that Louis Tomlinson may indeed be targeted on the soccer field, due to his boyband status, and therefore more prone to injury. Such injuries would affect the performances and shows on the One Direction tour.

Tomlinson recently logged onto Twitter to announce to fans he wouldn't be playing in the soccer match.

"Unfortunately due to injury I cannot play at this week's Doncaster Rovers match," Louis wrote on Twitter Monday, adding, "I will play in another game in 2014, to be announced. I'm really sorry I can't play."

"Fans who do not wish to attend may also keep their ticket and exchange it for the rescheduled match, again for a reduced price of £3."

Tomlinson added on Tuesday night that he would be tuning in, however, to see how the match plays out in his absence, The Independent notes.

"Gutted I can't play tomorrow but looking forward to watching the game," Louis tweeted. "If your coming down see you there :) x."
