Apple iOS 7 AirDrop: New Drchrono App Allows Doctors To Share Medical Records With Patients; ‘The World Of Healthcare Has Just Changed,’ Doctor Says

With the release of the Apple iOS 7 new operating system comes the introduction of AirDrop, a function that allows users to share photos or files with Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Drchrono has introduced a new app that allows doctors to share medical records with patients who have iOS 7 and Airdrop.

Drchrono Inc. released its new application for iOS 7 today, and is the first mobile EHR to support Apple's new iOS 7 operating system, according to Market Wired in a press release reported by Yahoo! Finance. Drchrono is the creator of the free Electronic Medical Record (EMR) platform on the iPad, iPhone and cloud.

Drchrono's free mobile EHR app allows doctors to connect with patients, which includes sharing medical records, electronic prescribing, medical billing, and patient management, all from the iPad, Market Wired reports. Now that it's supported on the Apple iOS 7 operating system, physicians can share files via iPad or iPhone with their patients, using the iOS 7's AirDrop at the medical facility.

Dr. James Andrew Rieger, MD, a physician with 22 years of experience, states, "With iOS7's AirDrop, the world of healthcare has just changed. For the first time I can share medical data in real time with a patient at the point of care. Also, I love the new design of the drchrono iOS7 app, it is simple and just works."

Whether it is a photo, a medical record, or text document, patients now have access to all their own medical information instantaneously, Market Wired reports.

"The days where multiple physicians have to hunch over a single computer screen are gone. The new AirDrop functionality will change the game of healthcare forever, now that doctors can share data with patients faster than ever before," said Daniel Kivatinos, cofounder of drchrono, Market Wired reports.

"We see a future of physicians in operating rooms all with iPads; imagine the head of the surgery expressing concerns or giving advice to the surgeons via the AirDrop. We are looking to create a future where collaboration between physicians should be as simple as pressing a button."
