Sandra Bullock Movie Achievement: 'Miss Congeniality' Actress To Receive Another Prestigious Award

It has been officially announced that 49-year-old Sandra Bullock will be receiving this year's Hollywood Actress Award for her moving performance in 'Gravity', a dramatic thriller film by Alfonso Cuaron. Founder and executive producer of the 17th Annual Hollywood Film Awards Carlos de Abreu made the announcement that the Academy Award-winning actress will indeed be honored this coming October 21. The Hollywood Film Awards Gala Ceremony will take place at the luxurious Beverly Hilton Hotel.

"We are honored to present the Hollywood Actress Award to Sandra Bullock for her outstanding work in 'Gravity'. Holding the screen alone for a large part of the film, she delivers a stunning and emotionally layered performance that shows once again why she is one of Hollywood's most respected and popular actresses," declared de Abreu.

'Gravity' is a film whose setting is in the realm of deep space. Bullock plays the role of a medical engineer who's on her first space mission together with a seasoned astronaut (George Clooney). However, disaster strikes when the pair's shuttle was destroyed. Together they embark to an unknown struggle for self-preservation.

The award will only be a part of Bullock's array of prestigious acknowledgments. She already owns a coveted Oscar Best Actress award for her riveting performance in 'The Blind Side where she also got the Screen Actors Guild, Golden Globe, and Critics' Choice awards. She has also recently starred in the much-applauded 'Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close'.

Apart from doing dramas, Bullock also shows her versatility by showing her comedic skills in 'Heat', 'The Proposal', 'Miss Congeniality', and in the rom-com 'While You Were Sleeping'.
