Emmy Awards Winners Roundup: Julia Louis Dreyfus and Jim Parsons Take Best Comedy Performances for 'Veep' And 'Big Bang Theory'

The recently concluded Emmy Awards just crowned the top performances in a comedy series. Julia Louis Dreyfus, took home the award for her role in "Veep" while Jim Parsons takes the plum again for "The Big Bang Theory."

This is already Julia Louis Dreyfus' fourth Emmy award. The former "Seinfeld" actress had taken the award before, but it does not mean this award is any less valuable. The petite comedienne was asked on where she'll place the award, considering she has a lot already- she replies: "I'm going to sleep with it. I've actually lost many more times than I won. I've lost 10 times. So, it's delicious to win." She's also attributed her lead actress comedy win for Veep "to the writing on the page. It's (creator) Armando Iannucci's voice. No one has done a show like this before."

Jim Parsons still showed an element of surprise as he credited his writers backstage after winning his third Emmy as lead actor for the CBS comedy The Big Bang Theory. "I think writing is the key - it's the lynchpin of whether (a show) works or doesn't," Parsons said. The quality of writing and the consistency in his character(Sheldon Cooper)make it such a pleasure going through seven seasons. "The decisions the writers make are what keeps Sheldon so grounded."

Despite having a mean streak, Parsons is still exhilarated with winning the award. He compares this latest triumph to "The feeling you have when you narrowly miss getting into a car accident. The adrenalin that drives up is so severe. I'm not sure if it's a psychological disorder or the name of the game." After the win, though, Parsons will not tread the beaten path of the post award parties. He said that he would probably go to the Governors Ball but that he isn;t much for after-parties. "I prefer to (go home) and read in bed," he said. "That's because I'm 100."
