This game 4 is a chance for Boston to get one step closer to the World Series, a season after it didn't come close to making the postseason. The Red Sox vs Rays game can be seen on TBS, but for free with the live stream online as division-rivals take the field for the final time at Tropicana Field.
"It kind of showed the way this team is right now and the fact that we're not going to die," Game 3 starter Alex Cobb said of a Rays team that vowed to return to Boston for Game 5 after falling into an 0-2 hole. "You're going to have to take our last breath away from us, and we're still going to be fighting and screaming at the end. It's going to be a fun ride. I don't think it's going to be over anytime soon."
Boston knows it's not over when you play a team like the Rays.
"We're coming back hungry just like we did today," designated hitter David Ortiz said Monday of Boston's mindset. "We know this ain't over. We know we've got to come and play, make pitches, score runs. We've got to do whatever it takes to win the game."
The pitching matchup will be veteran Jake Peavy for the Bo Sox against Jeremy Hellickson for the Rays. In three starts against Boston, Hellickson went 1-0. In Peavy's 10 starts with Boston since being traded in July, he is 4-1 with a 4.04 ERA. This is his first trip to the postseason since 2006.
"Just doing everything I could possibly do to keep that feel," Peavy, who last started Sept. 25 said. "If you watched [John] Lackey the other day, I think you saw the layoff can affect your feel and command a little bit. But at the end of the day, it will be no excuse. I'll get out there and figure out a way to get it done just as John did."
