Marilyn Monroe Plastic Surgery Files, Notes, X-Rays On Auction Block; Show Evidence Of Nose, Chin Procedures

Marilyn Monroe's plastic surgery medical files will be auctioned off.

The files up for auction include X-rays of Monroe, who died at 36 in 1962, as well as doctors' notes. The doctor's notes indicate Monroe had an ectopic pregnancy five years before her death.

The auction site, Julien's Auctions in Holllywood, show that the files "clear any doubt of Monroe's early plastic surgery procedures and cast new details on the actual procedures that would transform (Monroe) during a time when plastic surgery was not a popular procedure."

The records refer to Monroe by several different aliases, such as Marilyn Miller.

"Rumors regarding Marilyn Monroe's plastic surgery continue to astonish the media and public," and exactly what procedures she underwent has "long remained a mystery," said Julien's Auctions in Hollywood.

"Because her looks were so natural, it was hard for many to believe the reports that in 1950 Monroe had undergone her first plastic surgery."

In 1950, Monroe had a cartilage implant in her chin. She later saw Dr. Michael Gurdin; her chief complaint was "chin deformity." The implant from 1950 slowly began to dissolve.

During the same surgery, Monroe had a tip rhinoplasty on the end of her nose.

Monroe also suffered from a bout of neutropenia in England in 1956 and had an ectopic pregnancy in New York in 1957.

The files end on June 7, 1962, recording a fall in the middle of the night using the pseudonym Joan Newman. The fall resulted in swelling and tenderness on Monroe's nose; six X-rays up for auction show her nasal bones and teeth.

The auction of Monroe's files will be held on November 10 at Julien's Auctions in Beverly Hills, CA.
