'The Vampire Diaries' Season 5 Spoilers: Will Stefan Salvatore Be Finally Rescued in 'True Lies'?

With its unexpected revelations, the pilot episode of 'The Vampire Diaries' Season 5 did its job in intriguing viewers.

Elena and Caroline excitedly started a new chapter in their lives as freshmen girls at Whitmore College. However, such excitement was replaced with worry upon finding out that their harmless-looking roommate, Megan, kept a verbane-infused water. Before they can even confront Megan, the poor girl was murdered and apparently, it was a vampire-caused death. What does she know about vampires?

Silas, on the other hand, did not waste time in terrifying Mystic Falls with his gruesome comeback. He made sure to inform Mystic Falls that an "un-killable and immortal" creature like him should not be called a "vampire".

In the previous season, Silas was the one using and controlling Stefan. In the second episode of Season 5 entitled "True Lies", will Damon be successful in freeing his tormented brother? Surprisingly, the older Salvatore will team up with Sheriff Forbes to search for Stefan. 

"Stefan's been drowning over and over again all summer long while I've been playing house with Elena," says Damon who is apparently wallowing in guilt. Elena similarly expresses her longing for Stefan: "Stefan's been reaching out to me. He's in a lot of pain. We have to find him." Does this mean that Elena is gradually falling again for Stefan?
