iPhone 5C Price: Unit Production Of Cheaper iPhone Halved By Apple Due To Poor Sales Performance

Before Apple's event last month, the iPhone 5c was seen as the phone that could get the company the traction it needs in emerging markets. However, because the iPhone 5c price was not ideal for such purpose, it is now facing problems.

According to a report from CTech CN, Apple has instructed to reduce the order production of the iPhone 5c. In the report, from 300,000 units a week, it is now down to just 150,000 a week or one-half of the actual production.

The decision came in as a result of the phone's poor performance as far as sales is concerned, particularly in China where it was supposed to be a hit. In a separate news a few weeks back, some Chinese telcos have even cut the actual price of the iPhone just to lure in consumers.

During the first week of sales, Apple was proud to announce that it was able to sell 3 million units on its first weekend. However, the Cupertino company did not specify which iPhones performed better.

With iPhone 5s units sold out and iPhone 5c's getting reduced production, it is clear that the plastic iPhone failed.
