Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini And Galaxy Mega To Receive Official Android 4.4 KitKat; Confirmed By Knox Security Software Document

Good news for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini and Galaxy Mega users, your smartphones will be receiving the official Android 4.4 KitKat update.

According to Samsung's Knox Security software document, as posted on International Business Times, Android 4.4 KitKat will be available to Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini and Galaxy Mega. Furthermore, the Knox report also said the life cycle for Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini may end with the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean firmware.

The post revealed that SamMobile was able to get a screenshot of the document from one of its trusted insiders. The screenshot is an internal document from the Samsung Knox Security, which shows confirmed devices that will be getting the Android 4.4 KitKat.

Samsung Knox Security software is an application that will be preloaded on the Galaxy S4 Mini, as well as the Samsung Galaxy Mega running the Android 4.4 KitKat firmware.

The company is already beginning to prepare for the initial stages of the Android 4.4 KitKat, as somehow revealed by a UK customer service representative, telling a member of an XDA developer forum who was asking about the regional lock SIM strategy of the Korean smartphone manufacturer.

However, unlike Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini and Galaxy Mega, there are reports saying that the Galaxy S3 Mini's life cycle may about to end with Android 4.1 as it will not be further updated with later Android operating system. Previous reports suggested that the Galaxy S3 Mini may end its life cycle on at least, the Android 4.2.2, but fresh news claims otherwise. But since the schedules for the firmware updates are still subject to change, there is still a small chance that Galaxy S3 Mini will get at least the Android 4.2 or 4.3 Jelly Bean, most possibly next year.
