MV Review: MYNAME "Day by Day"

Okay, alright it has happened-I am officially in love with MyName. Their newest music video for "Day by Day" is subtle, beautifully done, and one of the best music videos for a ballad I've seen in K-pop so far. The concept has the boys reversing in time, disappearing into thin air, seeing double, and loads of subtle sadness that hangs over throughout each scene in a very slow motion way that completely encaptivates the viewer. The song itself is a sad, sappy love ballad that has to do with learning how to deal with the pain of losing someone you loved and taking it "day by day" will help you reach tomorrow. It's a truly heartbreaking yet beautiful melody that's sung meticulously by leader Gunwoo and Insoo. The rappers also give the ballad that edge we all love and featured artist D.O takes it one step with his verse at the beginning of the song.

When I first heart that Fly to the Sky's Hwanhee was making a boygroup, I have to be honest, I chuckled a bit. There was no way in my mind that a heavy ballad singer could ever create a rapping, dancing, and singing boy band to compete with the likes of veterans like Super Junior or SHINee or rookies like B.A.P or EXO. Fortunately, I was completely and utterly wrong. Myname is consistently proving that they aren't here to play around and are focused on becoming the best of the best. They have proven time and time again through their stage performances, music videos, and singles that they are here to stay and make a name for themselves-no pun intended.

Overall, I love this group and I admire the work they are putting out. It's hard for any rookie group to come out and impress but Myname is consistently doing just that. I give this music video a YAY!
