Charlie Hunnam Will No Longer Be Christian Grey! Who Will Replace Him In The ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ Movie?

Charlie Hunnam will no longer be business magnate Christian Grey in the movie adaptation of E.L. James' bestselling novel, 'Fifty Shades of Grey'. Due to 33-year-old Hunnam's abrupt dropping out from the commitment, the film executives are now looking for another male lead.

In an official statement issued by the Universal Pictures and Focus Features, Hunnam's reason for quitting was revealed: "The filmmakers of FIFTY SHADES OF GREY and Charlie Hunnam have agreed to find another male lead given Hunnam's immersive TV schedule which is not allowing him time to adequately prepare for the role of Christian Grey."

The actor is currently starring on the FX series 'Sons of Anarchy.'

The 'Green Street' star once said that he was very excited and honoured to be entrusted with bringing (Grey's) incredible character to life." However, according to reports, the English actor initially refused the offer because of schedule difficulties. Fearing that he might not be able to provide what is expected from him, Hunnam withdrew from the project just a few weeks before the start of its filming.

Movie producers have not yet spoken about the potential actors that they can pair with 23-year-old Dakota Johnson who will play the role of naïve student Anastasia Steele.

Earlier this month, an online petition in Change.org was launched by diehard fans hoping that Hunnam will be replaced by other actors. Celebrities who have been linked with Grey's character include Matt Bomer, Henry Cavill, Ian Somerhalder, and Ryan Gosling.
