‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 5 Episode 2 RECAP: Will Elena Kill Damon And Fall In Love Again With Stefan? What Awaits Mystic Falls In The Hands Of Silas?

This week's episode of 'The Vampire Diaries' entitled 'True Lies' still revolves around the web of lies and mystery surrounding the bloodsuckers of Mystic Falls.

Elena and Caroline are still determined to be normal college girls by hiding their real identities. After the unexplained murder of their verbane-loving roommate Megan, the two best friends ended up in a wrong biology class. Before the two got kicked out of the class, the biology professor hinted about his passion for the town's history. Does he know something about vampires?

Silas, who's still in Stefan's body, pays a visit to Elena and informs her about Jeremy's expulsion from school. Since Elena does not really know who she's talking to, Silas/Stefan persuades her to kill Damon.

As for Matt and Jeremy, they want to keep Katherine out of Silas' control, that's why they went into the woods. Unfortunately, the stealthy Silas locates them and kills mortal Matt. Mat is wearing the infamous ring allowing him to return to life but during his temporary death, he saw Bonnie. Matt now knows that Bonnie is not travelling and is actually pretending to be alive. Katherine, in her human form, rescues the two and temporarily kills Silas. The hide-and-seek continues next week.

Damon then shows up and tells Elena that Silas inhabits Stefan's body. However, Elena has been compelled already to kill him. The only way he can stop her is by channeling her killer instincts into her intense love for Stefan.  Will Elena forget about Damon and come back to his tormented younger brother?

Carole and Tyler are having a tough time after his decision to defer for another semester since he's too occupied doing wolf-related things. Caroline then starts to develop a crush on someone.

The episode ended with Silas greeting a pair of 'The Travelers'. Surprisingly, the woman killls her partner and admitted to Silas that she has a personal agenda. Is this a horrifying partnership in the making?

'The Vampire Diaries' Season 5 Episode 3 entitled 'Original Sin' will air next week on the CW.
