David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson Want More 'X-Files'; Ask for Fan Support

Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny can't agree on whether their characters were married in the last X-Files movie, but they do agree that they want to do more "The X-Files."

"Star Trek" was cancelled after only three seasons and it took a flood of fan letters to get the go-ahead for a series of "Star Trek" movies. Why not "The X-Files?" David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson sat down to talk about The X-Files" at The Paley Center for Media on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013 in New York.

Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny told "The Truth Is Here" panel that they are more than open to reprise the roles of FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, but it might take fan intervention to pull it off.

David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson put on their non-descript FBI suits as agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully on "The X-Files" twenty years ago. "The X-Files" TV series ran for nine seasons was made into two feature films.

Speaking in a panel discussion at the The Paley Center for Media in New York marking the 20th Anniversary of "The X-Files" premiere, David Duchovny, 53, and Gillian Anderson, 45, couldn't agree whether their characters were married in the second "X-Files" movie, but they are more than willing to let a third movie answer that question.

David Duchovny tried to get clarification on Mulder and Scully's relationship in  to 2008's "The X-Files: I Want to Believe," asking "Well they were married the last movie?"

Gillian Anderson asked "Were we actually married?"

Duchovny responded "I believe so. That was my impression."

Mulder and Scully weren't a romantic couple on "The X-Files" TV series, even if Mulder did insist on driving because he didn't know if Scully's little feet "could reach the peddles" but they were a couple in the 2008 "X-Files" movie. But it was never clear whether the two retired agents were actually married or just living together.

Whether or not they could agree on their relationship they do agree that they want to make another "X-Files" film.

David Duchovny confirmed "All the principals are on board," which would include Chris Carter, who created "The X-Files." Duchovny said, "Gillian and I want to do it, so it's really up to Twentieth Century Fox at this point."

Gillian Anderson hinted that it might take work on the fans' part. She told the audience, "If it takes fan encouragement to get Fox interested in that then I guess that's what it would be."
