Will Ferrell And John C. Reilly Will Reunite In A Film Titled ‘Devil’s Night;’ It’s Not A ‘Step Brothers’ Sequel

Hilarious actors Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly will finally reunite in a movie, but it's not a sequel.

Their first film together, "Step Brothers" was a big comedy hit, and fans have been waiting for a sequel or a reunion of their team-up ever since. This project may be released around the same time as another much-awaited comedy duo reunion-"Dumb and Dumber To" with Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels.

The project will reunite them with director Adam McKay. According to The Wrap, Andrew Mogel and Jarrad Paul are writing the screenplay. The duo have previously worked together on the Jim Carrey flick "Yes Man" and the short-lived Fox animated series "Allen Gregory". Ferrell and Adam McKay's Gary Sanchez Productions will produce the movie for Sony. Sony has a lot of faith in the  project as Ferrell and Reilly make a potent comedy pairing. "Step Brothers" grossed $100 million at the domestic box office.

In the film, Ferrell and Reilly will play two kids who met and became friends on Devil's Night, only to later be torn apart by the same holiday. Fifteen years later, they would be forced to band together on the holiday in order to save their neighborhood.

Set on October 30, the real-life Devil's Night is an unofficial holiday associated with pranks like egging and TPing, though the tradition notoriously escalated to serious vandalism and arson in '80s and '90s Detroit. The holiday was featured in the 1994 film The Crow, and has been referenced in movies like Grosse Pointe Blank and 8 Mile (all of which took place in Detroit).

Ferrell will be seen on the much-awaited "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues" while Reilly is filming "Guardians of the Galaxy" for Marvel.
