Hines Ward Ironman Triathlon Completed In 13 Hours: Super Bowl MVP Says One And Done After 2.4 Mile Swim, 112 Mile Bike Ride, 26.2 Mile Run Non-Stop

Hines Ward Ironman triathlon completed Saturday when the former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver competed for 13 hours straight, he showed off his endurance, athleticism and determination.

The 37-year-old former Super Bowl MVP is now an analyst for Sunday Night Football. Saturday, he endured a workout much more straining than a professional football game. Hines Ward completed the dreadful Ironman triathlon in Hawaii.

Hines Ward competed in Kona for the Ironman Triathlon where Ward finished in 1,680th place. The two-time Super Bowl champ completed the competition when he had to swim, ride his bike and run for ins -- 2.4 miles, 112 miles and 26.2 miles, respectively. He swam a 1:20:01, biked a 06:21:12 and finished off with a 5:12:56 run.

"God is good! Trust me, I kept talking to The Lord to help me get through the marathon," Ward tweeted.

When asked if he would do it again, Ward told NBC Sports that it was one and done for him.

The Ironman triathlon is one of the most challenging courses in the world. The name Ironman Triathlon refers to both the original Ironman triathlon and the annual Ironman World Championship. Also called Ironman Kailua-Kona, the world championships of the event, held annually in Hawaii since 1978 (with an additional race in 1982), are now preceded by a series of qualifying events. Ironman Triathlon became known for its grueling length and harsh racing conditions.

The former NFL star and "Dancing With the Stars" winner trained for nearly a year with triathlon legend Paula Newby-Fraser.

"When I first started it was raining one day and I even asked Paula if I should be running in the rain. I never thought I could run further than a mile," Ward said. "This has been a life-changing experience for me.
