Rihanna Gets Inked Again But In An Old-School Way; 'We Found Love' Singer Laughs While Wiping Blood From Her Swollen Hand

To mark her memorable trip to New Zealand, the 'Diamonds' singer opted to be inked using the traditional yet painful Ta Moko method. Rihanna's newest tattoo bears a Maori design and is inked onto her right hand all the way to her forearm.

The tattoo is courtesy of artist Inia Taylor who works at the Moko Ink studio in West Auckland. As opposed to modern tattoo tools which do the job quickly, the Ta Moko method utilizes a chisel and a mallet to apply the ink pigment.

"The language of Ta Moko is used to design a unique piece of body art expressing aspects that relate to the wearer," claims the tatoo shop's website.

A two-minute video showing the 25-year-old pop star undergoing the process has been uploaded online. Rihanna bravely laughs as she experiences the excruciatingly hurtful process. The tattoo artists temporarily stopped to allow the singer to wipe off the blood from her knuckles.

Rihanna has more than 20 tattoos on her body and for her, they all stand for spiritual meanings:  "My tattoos are all spiritual and show how I feel about religion. I have a falcon which is an Egyptian falcon and is supposed to stand for God."

Her thigh similarly bears a Sanskrit prayer and the middle finger of her left hand shows the word "love".
