Metal Gear Solid 5 Release Date News: Based On Splinter Cell And Assassin’s Creed Games? Analyst Suggests Metal Gear Solid Series Gameplay Has Evolved Over Time

Metal Gear Solid 5 has captured the attention of gamers waiting for its release date, but one analyst suggests many people have not noticed how much the series has evolved over time.

"Kojima's never been shy about communicating an affection for western games and western culture, a passion made explicit with the recent opening of a Los Angeles arm of Kojima Productions," EuroGamer.com writes.

"That new perspective and workforce brings something else, too. Metal Gear Solid 5 is shooting for global superstardom, and for its place on the main stage alongside Assassin's Creed, Grand Theft Auto and Elder Scrolls."

Metal Gear Solid 5: Phantom Pain developer Hideo Kojima revealed during an interview with Japanese site Game Watch that there will be few stops between Cutscenes and gameplay.

Similar to an open world game like GTA, Kojima hopes that there will be much more seamless transitions between story and exploration, Gameranx.com reports.

He also promised the use of weapons that match the game's era, which is around 1980, Gameranx.com also reports.

Kojima also revealed some new details which could add to the replayability of the experience as it relates to  the forma of post-mission analysis and "No Kill, No Alert" challenges, GamingBolt.com reports.

"In some missions there are 'No Kill, No Alert' challenges, and all those challenges are connected by social [rankings] and can be played any number of times. In addition to that, even in the same mission there will be different situations, like different ways to attack and different weather conditions," Kojima informed the website.

"Everything you do will eventually be evaluated at the base. For example, if you bring back the wrong target in a hostage rescue and you should do it again to improve your result. That's the (non-linear) replay value due to the freedom enhanced by an open world."
