20,000 Bees Found In Elderly Florida Woman's Home: House Was "Colossal Honeycomb", Attic Full Of Woodland Creatures Eating Honey

A Florida woman's home had over 20,000 bees.

The elderly woman, Sevia Moore, 98, called exterminations because she thought she had a small issue with bees.

Moore called for a slight pest problem, thinking there was a beehive somewhere in the house, and the exterminators found a terrifying breeding ground for 20,000 bees.

The bees were all over the house and in the attic. The woman's house was basically a "colossal honeycomb."

Along with the bees, there were rats and squirrels nesting in the attic, eating the plentiful honey.

Moore said that she had not been disturbed by the bees, or even noticed buzzing. She didn't realize how huge the beehive was. Her granddaughter took her up to the attic and showed her the bee colony that had formed. Moore said she was stunned and immediately called for help.

Moore thought the bees had been hin her home for about a year, said Leo Cross, the founder of Florida Wildlife Trappers.

In order to eliminate the bees, trappers sucked up the bees with vacuums. They also put out traps for the small animals. Cross said that they were having a good time up in the attic, getting fat off the honey.

The bees were then transported to another location.  Cross said that "the honey bee population is hurting right now" and it's important to save the hive and move the bees to another location so "they can go on to reproduce."
