iPad 5, iPad Mini 2 release date on October 22 will unveil the look of Apple’s newest line of tablets. The release of the iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 has been rumored for months and finally, a report by All Things D, citing sources from people familiar with Apple’s plans noted that the Cupertino tech giant will be holding an invitation-only event on the said date.

Accoding to the All Things D source, the October 22 event by Apple will also feature the launch of the OS X Mavericks and the Mac Pro. Although there have been reports that the newest line of MacBook Pros will be launched on the said day, there was no mention of the Apple laptop on the report.

The iPad Mini 2 is expected to be upgraded to Retina display, although supply experts say that this will cause issues with the production of the new tablet. There have been earlier reports saying that the initial supply of iPad Mini 2 will be short in stock, and that Apple may delay its release until 2014.

Both the iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 will have a specs boost, primarily the new A7 chip, which will be incorporated into its workings, according to a report by The Mirror. The iPad 5 is also expected to have a thinner, lighter design and an improved camera.

Leaked images of the new iPads reveal in its famous space grey color. There have been images of the iPad Mini 2, which is similar to the look of the newly launched iPhone 5S.

Aside from the A7 processors and the thinner design, the new tablets have also been rumored to have the TouchID fingerprint sensor. Since Apple does not comment on future product launches, all expected specs from the device remain unconfirmed, although some reports cite sources from the supply chain of Apple.
