'Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2' Story: Shrimpanzees, Tacodiles, And Other Fun Things To Expect From The Food-Filled Film

The second installment of 'Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs' is still a hit for children and the young-at-heart ones. The movie, where it's literally raining food, has been inspired by a novel penned by Judi Barrett,

In the first film, the ambitious and determined Flint Lockwood aspires to create something innovative that will provide food for his town. Food that is far from the town's staple - sardines. Lockwood was able to invent a machine that transforms water into food. However, chaos came when the overworked machine paved way for meatball asteroids, pasta tornadoes, cheese lava, and other monstrous food.

The second film still focuses on Lockwood as a normal working guy. He had no choice but to leave his job upon finding out that his machine still worked. The machine now generates "foodimals" - a scary hybrid of food and animals.

Tacodiles, hippotatomuses, cheespiders, and shrimpanzees - these are some of the ravenous creatures that Lockwood's gang had to deal with.

"I love the world of Cloudy. Of all the films I've worked on, 'Cloudy' is my favorite. So, to get the chance to go back and revisit the characters in this new, crazy world that we were developing made this a really exciting project for me," said director Cody Cameron who also worked for 'Shrek' and 'Surf's Up'.

Co-director Kris Pearn also explained the adventure that each  character underwent; "When we started the brainstorming process, we found a very rich amount of elements to explore-not just a new adventure, but also the characters," said Pearn, who headed the story team on the first "Cloudy" film. "On this adventure, all of the characters get to express themselves more fully.

"Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2," distributed by Columbia Pictures, is still showing.
