Nexus 10 Release Date: Will We See The New Google Tablet Today? Expected Launch Date For Asus-Made Device And Android 4.4 KitKat Still Unconfirmed

Nexus 10 release date is expected to be today, October 15. But less than 12 hours before the work day starts at the West Coast, it is still unconfirmed if Google will be releasing the alleged Asus-made Nexus tablet today. Today’s date was also the expected launch date for the Android 4.4 KitKat, rumors suggest.

Famous gadget leaker, EV leaks, earlier showed a screenshot of a store listing showing “Google Asus Nexus 10,” effectively revealing the manufacturer for the upcoming device.

According to the International Business Times, the Nexus 10 is one of the products included in the biggest and last launch date of Google for the year 2013. Rumors are pointing to an October 15 release date for the gadget. The rumored date, however, is still unconfirmed as press invites for the said event have yet to be sent-out. Earlier rumors have actually floated an October 14 launch, but many have said it has been delayed by a day because of the Columbus Day holiday.

The Business Times cited out some reasons why a release by Google for the device is likely to happen. Numerous tech watchers and bloggers are expecting that after the iPhone launch and the rumored iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 launch, Google does have in its arsenal a big move, which many believe are the Nexus devices.

Android Central has also confirmed the possibility of a pending Nexus 10 launch. The tech-site pointed to a tweet by PC World, showing the 10-inch Nexus slate with the Asus branding and set to appear soon on the shelves of U.K. retailer, Curry, reported the Business Times. The expected tablet is reported to have a storage configuration of 16 GB and will retail for £350, which is a jump from the 2012 pricing.

The leaked images suggest that Google Play will soon display the full-sized Nexus tablet as the online storefront typically carries all Nexus devices in advance of the release.

Many are expecting Google to upstage Apple by unveiling its new smartphone, the Nexus 5 together with the Nexus 10 a full 24-hours before the iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 release. Google has been positioning the Nexus 10 to compete with the 9.7-inch iPad and it aspires to get a headstart by introducing the device earlier, even if it’s only days apart.
