The Good Wife Season 5: Robert King On Kalinda Love Interest Juliet Rylance Getting Cut From Show

"The Good Wife" season 5 is only three episodes in, and fans are already worried for poor Kalinda as her new love interest Juliet Rylance gets cut from the show.

According to TVLine, several scenes were shot for the September 29 premiere, but they were cut for time.

Reportedly, Juliet Rylance was only committed to the one episode to begin with, and it seemed Rylance's commitment to Cinemax's 10-episode drama "The Knick" also factored into "The Good Wife" season 5 cut.

According to "The Good Wife" co-creator Robert King, Juliet Rylance was set to play Holly.

"She feels like Kalinda is closeted and she really should announce herself, that it's wrong for her to be so withdrawn about her sexuality. And with Kalinda it's not a political thing. She's not closeted, she's really private. There's this real disconnect between the two of them."

And while to the casual viewer this scheduling hiccup seems superfluous in the long run, "The Good Wife" season 5 fans are worried about Kalinda's screentime, and even future on the show.

Out of all the characters on "The Good Wife," Kalinda has received the most amount of criticism, especially due to her storyline with her estranged husband.

"I think they're going to find that there are episodes she figures very big in, and some less so," said King.

"And that is truly a function of scheduling and other difficulties. I think they'll be happy [when they view the season as a whole]. They'll even be happy [when they view the first] month."
