Ryan Murphy, the latest "Glee" showrunner maps out his final story arcs long in advance.

"Glee" follows students and teachers at a performance high school in Ohio.

Glee's last season was first reported by TVLine's Michael Ausiello.

Murphy told TVLine "The final year of the show, which will be next year, was designed around Rachel and Cory/Finn's story. I always knew that, I always knew how it would end. I knew what the last shot was, he was in it. I knew what the last line was, she said it to him. So when a tragedy like that happens you sort of have to pause and figure out what you want to do, so we're figuring that out now."

Fox and studio 20th Century Fox TV were caught off guard on by the Glee final season announcement. Glee was renewed in April.

In last week's episode "Glee" said goodbye to Cory Monteith. The episode gave "Glee" its best ratings of the season. 7.4 million people tuned in, 75% more than the week before.
