'The Voice UK Season 2' Winner Andrea Begley Overcomes Her Blindness; Uses Her Condition As A Joke

In The Voice UK, Andrea Begley and all other contestants had to go through a 'blind audition.' It was very literal for Andrea.

She began to lose her sight from the age of 6, and is nearly blind with only 10% vision, but she uses her disability as a secret weapon to raise laughs and break the ice.

"If someone knocks into me and says 'Oh, I didn't see you,' I have a bit of fun and say 'Well, I didn't see you either.' I've had people in the past try to talk to me louder because for some reason if my eyes don't work my ears must not work as well. I try to deal with it as lightly as possible."

Andrea's positive personality radiated all throughout the competition and led into a victory. She is  the winner of "The Voice UK" Season 2.

Her mentor was Danny O' Donoghue, the lead singer of the band 'The Script.' He has had her tag along on their gigs. In one instance, she used her blindness to punk the band's drummer, Glen Powers: "We were waiting in the dressing room before they went on stage, I went up to Glen and said "I need to feel your face." He was trying to be really nice and normal about it and go along with it and I just totally raked him."

She claims she will use it as a line for hunks she will meet along her career: "I need a tactile tour. Touching your face isn't enough!" (quotes from Metro)

The Message, the debut album by Andrea Begley, is out on Monday October 21 through Universal Music. With her overwhelming charm and bubbly personality that led her to overcome her disability, she really has a message that we should all hear.
