Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Gets Software Update, Enables Users To Turn-Off Activation Lock, Fixes Smart Watch Accessory Bugs

Over a month after the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 hit the stores, it is now getting its first major update to fix a few bugs. In a report by GSM Arena, the gigantic Android phone will be getting an update to address several issues. 

The changelog says the update will bring in a few stability improvements for the Galaxy Note 3. However, the update will most likely be about enabling users to turn off the re-activation lock which has haunted several users during the past month. 

The re-activation lock works like a last-resort security feature that would require the user to input his Samsung account details right after a factory reset. The security concept is nice, considering the fact that phone thieves resets stolen phones to be able to use or sell them easier. 

Unfortunately, some Note 3 users are not aware of it, which caught them by suprise when they reset their phone to factory condition. 

In addition to the ability to turn off the re-activation lock, the 116MB-update also covers a few glitches of the Note 3 when connecting with the Pebble smartwatch accessory. 

The report says the update should be rolling out by now in SIM-free and unlocked versions of the Galaxy Note 3.
