Tiger Woods PGA Tour Video Game: Electronic Arts Screams ‘Fore’ On Tiger Woods Franchise, Golf Champion “Had An Incredible Run” With Video Game Developer

Electronic Arts drops a 15-year partnership franchise with the Tiger Woods PGA Tour video game series.

The video game developer will continue publishing the game but Tiger will no longer appear or be in the game anymore.

"Moving forward, we will continue to work with the PGA TOUR exclusively to create groundbreaking golfing titles and our partnership remains strong," they said.

EA Sports and Woods' agent Mark Steinberg said that they have mutually agreed with the decision to part ways.

"EA SPORTS and Tiger Woods have also made a mutual decision to end our partnership, which includes Tiger's named PGA TOUR golf game. We've always been big fans of Tiger and we wish him continued success in all his future endeavors," the number one golfer's agent said.

The last game for the franchise was released in March 2013 and is entitled "Tiger Woods 14."

The 37-year old athlete, who hasn't won a major title since 2008, said that they had an incredible run with the video game creator. EA also announced that they are parting ways with the college football franchise as well. Former NCAA players who appeared in the game said they weren't compensated enough by the company that led them to file a lawsuit.

"We had an incredible run," the golfer's agent told ESPN.com. "Outside of [John] Madden, you would be hard pressed to find a sports figure that meant as much to a video game company as Tiger meant to EA. But times are changing and EA had to re-evaluate the partnership, and frankly so did we."

After the popular champion golfer's 2008 major title, he started losing endorsements the following year from AT&T, Accenture and Tag Heuer due to a matrimonial scandal. However, Electronic Arts said the relationship of between them and the sales of the game weren't affected.
