Doctor Who Season 8 Spoilers: 'At Least' 13 Episodes Confirmed By Steven Moffat As 'Day Of The Doctor' Tickets Sell Out Nationwide

"Doctor Who" may be slightly disappointed at the lack of actual episodes this year, but Steven Moffat promises that more will come next year for season 8.

According to DoctorWhoTV, Steven Moffat is committed to "at least" 13 episodes in 2014. However, this may or may not include the 2014 Christmas special.

Given the amount of work for Moffat this year, including everything for the "Doctor Who" 50th Anniversary as well as "Sherlock" season 3, fans are worried about a reduction of episodes in season 8, when it arrives.

"There's always a point in production, usually half-way, maybe two thirds, through a series when you realize you're juggling at least one aspect of each show at once: maybe a press launch for one, another in the edit and I might not have written the last one," says Moffat.

"You wake up in the night thinking about 13 emergencies, each of them equally calamitous. As a lifestyle choice, it's questionable."

A surprising admission, given the amount of success and buzz the "Doctor Who" 50th Anniversary Special is already receiving prior to its November 23 premiere.

As noted by many late fans, nearly all of the tickets for the "Doctor Who" 50th Anniversary theater screening in the U.S. have been sold out.

But once the Anniversary celebration is over, hopefully fans can get a new start on the Doctor in season 8.

"One of the hardest things for me to do is work out when I'll have time to write. A whole week can disappear when I haven't had a moment to sit down. I was amazed recently when I got a script ready in time for the tone meeting."
