OS X Mavericks Download Issues: Stalled Installation A Common Problem When Updating To Latest Apple OS, Some Tips On How To Fix It

OS X Mavericks download issues are now all over and it’s a common issue when upgrading from one version to the next, with the problem not getting easier when you’re dealing with much later versions.

Wired.com cited some of the most common issues faced when updating to the OS X Mavericks and in their article, they also provided some solutions on how to fix it.

The Migration Assistant in Mountain Lion had a tendency to crash, according to the news site, when copying files over. Other Macs with the OS loses Wi-Fi when it wakes up from sleep mode. According to Wired.com, though the OS X Mavericks update has gone smoothly so far, transitioning to the new OS is far from trouble-free.

When the author of this article first downloaded the OS X Mavericks, the “Setting Up Your Mac” phase seems to have taken forever. Many have also experienced this and Wired recommends that you open up your Launchpad to get the current status of the download. There you’ll see the Mavericks download with the grayed-out icon and its current status, says Wired. There you’ll see Paused. Click on the icon and continue the download.

If the download is still stalled, open Launchpad again and locate the Mavericks update. Instead of just clicking to resume the download, hold down the Option and the app icons will begin jiggling like they do in iOS. Wired instructs that you click on the tiny x that appears on the Mavericks update to delete the download. Proceed to the App Store and begin the download all over again.

Another option if the installation process is taking too much time is to restart your Mac. You might need to reinstall your OS in its entirety once this is done, but this could be a viable solution if the installation is taking too much time.

Digital Trends suggests performing a disk cleanup using a diagnostic tool when installing OS X Mavericks. To access it, reboot your Mac and press and hold Command and R after you hear the boot-up sound effect to enter the recovery partition, the website suggests. From there, you need to open Disk Utility and run a disk repair diagnostic on your primary boot drive. Once finished, reboot again, re-enter OS and give the Mavericks installer another try.
