"It was a gritty, grimy, ugly game, just how I like it and it was fun," coach Mike Brown, who returned to the Cleveland bench after two seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, told ESPN. "I think our guys enjoyed it."
Andrew Bynum had three points, three rebounds, two blocks and two assists in less than eight minutes of play in his Cleveland debut. He was traded from the L.A. Lakers to the Philadelphia 76ers last season and didn't play a single minute because of knee injuries. Bynum signed a two-year contract with Cleveland in July.
"We don't want to rush him," Brown said. "We want to make sure as best we can that we take our time and do this thing the right way."
Last year, the two teams weren't far apart. The Cavs finished 24-58 while the Bobcats finished 21-61. Though, with the talents of Kyrie Irving, Tristan Thompson as young stars in the backcourt, Anderson Verajo and Bynum could make for a formable frontcourt. These guys just need to stay away from the injury-bug with some of their players.
The Bobcats concluded the 2012-13 season by shooting 50.7 percent in a 105-98 home victory over Cleveland that snapped a six-game skid in the series, according to ESPN.com.
Kemba Walker led the way with 24 points in that win and Josh McRoberts matched a career high with 20 while making all six shots, including three from 3-point range. McRoberts had a team-best 15 points Wednesday.
