Person Of Interest Season 3 Spoilers: Is Root Still A Villain? Plus, More On Carter’s Upcoming Big Role In The Series!

“Person of Interest” Season 3 SPOILER: Find out if Root is still a villain!

The third season of “Person of Interest” is getting more and more exciting. Now that Root is out of the institution, what is she planning next? Or, the more important question, what is The Machine planning for Root?

Root, portrayed by Amy Acker, has always been a villain in the series. Last season, we found out that The Machine is also talking to Root, which gives viewers something to think about – Does this mean The Machine sees Root as an ally as well?

From recent episodes, we know that The Machine helped Root escape from the institution. This basically answers the question on whether The Machine trusts Root or not.

Executive Producer Jonathan Nolan also shared some insights on the relationship of The Machine and Root during a group interview. Steve 'Frosty' Weintraub shared some juicy details.

Nolan: “We said a couple times for the season, you know—the bigger question this season—if the machine has a plan, what is that plan? And it obviously involves Root, which we’ll see through her the beginning of the sketches of what The Machine is actually trying to do now that it has a little more autonomy, a little more control.”

On the question on whether Root is still a villain or not, GamerHub.TV was able to asked Amy Acker on how does it feel to play bad.

Acker replied, “I feel like she’s more resourceful than bad.” She further added, “She really feels that she thinks she’s doing the right thing.”

Acker’s response is somewhat vague. But, considering the character she is playing, this is not surprising. What is for certain is that Root definitely plays an important role on The Machine’s plan. Whatever the plan is viewers will have to wait and see.

On a different note, Executive Producers Nolan and Plageman also discussed other important details on the current season of POI.

According to Plageman, “We’re gonna learn more about Carter and her backstory this year, as we go along.”

Looks like viewers will learn more about Carter this season, especially since she’s trying to bring down H.R.

During Weintraub’s interview with Plageman, the EP also said Carter’s role will be big this season and viewers will definitely be given a “juicy storyline” on her character.

PLAGEMAN: “Yeah, obviously Carter has an axe to grind with what happened to Cal Beecher. That’s something we’ve seen at the end of the premiere, she’s starting to track and pursue on her own—who is the leader of H.R. and what is she up to? How is she planning about taking them on? We think that’s a really juicy storyline that we’re gonna continue to evolve. Also, I think the end of Episode 2, we saw the character Collier emerge as someone who’s espousing something that is very counter to the surveillance state or Orwellian state that we played on the show. I think that’s an interesting conflict as well.”

Looks like viewers will be seeing more of H.R. this season 3 of “Person of Interest” as well.
