iPad Mini 2 Release Date Plagued With 'Tight Supply' Issues Due To Retina Display, Apple Seeks Help From Samsung

If you have been waiting for the iPad mini 2 release date, you may get disappointed. That's because aside from the fact that it does not have an exact date, supplies may become very tight if ever it hits the market later this year.

According to a report by BGR, Nikkei reported on Friday that the manufacturers responsible for building Retina displays for the iPad mini 2 have been encountering 'manufacturing difficulties'.

The report shows that both Sharp and LG are not able to meet demands for supply for the 7.9-inch Retina screens. As a result, Apple may soon be asking for help from Samsung.

While Samsung is seen as a capable supplier of the Retina display, the report says the Korean manufacturer may not be able to handle mass-production until 2014. This could mean that the iPad mini 2 supply may only normalize and hit its target volume some time next year.

Apple partner retailer Target has previously placed a release date on the 21st of November, though we still can't be sure whether the Cupertino-based manufacturer is able to handle the immense consumer demand for its Retina-powered slate.
