Android 4.4 KitKat: Features, Download Availability Release Dates For Samsung, Motorola, HTC Phones

Jason Mackenzie, president of HTC United States, has confirmed that Google Android 4.4 KitKat release date for the HTC One will be after 15 days, Online Gadget Store reported yesterday. Users of HTC One can download the software update on the Google Play Edition. However, if it doesn't install immediately, it will be available after 30 days, Online Gadget Store reports.

Unfortunately, the update is only available for the US version of HTC One. For the international version, the Android 4.4 KitKat update is expected to release after 90 days.

Motorola also announced that the Google Android 4.4 KitKat will be available for their US phones. The Motorola Moto X, as well as all the members of its lineup like the DROID Mini, Ultra and MAXX, is expected to be compatible with the new operating system, although there is no official release date.

Samsung also confirmed that the Google Play Edition for their Galaxy S4 will be updated in the following weeks, Online Gadget Store reports, but they have not given an official release date.

LG and Sony have not commented yet about the release date for Google Android 4.4 KitKat on their smartphones.

Google's senior vice president Sundar Pichai writes on the official Google blog that the Android 4.4 KitKat will be coming to the Nexus 4, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10 "soon".

"Android 4.4, KitKat, which comes on Nexus 5, will also soon be available on Nexus 4, 7, 10, the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One Google Play edition devices in the coming weeks," he wrote, Know Your Mobile reports.

The Android 4.4 features include improved, non-destructive photo editor, better visuals, improved sensors, and the operating system can now run on handsets with just 512MB of RAM and print content using Google Cloud Print, Know Your Mobile reports
