NBA Trade Rumors – Kevin Love To New York Knicks? Top Power Forward Likes Big Apple; Should T-Wolves Trade Him Now?

The Minnesota Timberwolves visited Madison Square Garden yesterday. The T-Wolves got a win, but the highlight of the night is an ominous high-five between Minnesota's franchise player Kevin Love and Knicks superfan,  director Spike Lee.

While the gesture was in jest, and may even be sarcastic, it was enough to fuel the imaginations of many a Knicks fan. Kevin Love can opt out of his contract and become a free agent in the summer of 2015, and the New York Knicks have the cap space to make an offer at that time.

The former UCLA stalwart is no stranger to the Big Apple. He often spent off-season time in the city as well as rehab time for his injury. The NBA's best power forward looks sharp and trimmed down at the start of the season. He produced an MVP stat line against the Knicks: 34 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. He always plays well against New York's first team, and it would be great for the Garden fans to have him on their side for a change.

Carmelo Anthony, the Knicks current superstar who declared that he will recruit players into the Big Apple (in an interview from NY Post): "He's a load, an offensive rebounding machine. He's a big [power forward] who can space out and shoot threes. He can create havoc in the paint. He's gotten better every year he's been in this league."

Kevin Love, while relishing his time in New York, refuses to talk about his future: "I love New York City, it's great. ... . To get out to the northeast is very nice. I've always enjoyed coming to New York City. I want to talk about this year and the present right now. If you can't get up to play in MSG, you may as well go home."

The current Western Conference Player of the Week was also asked about his high five with Spike Lee: "I know where he sits. He saw me coming, so I kind of just reached out for some dap.  He was right there, he kind of shook his head. It was one of those moments - Spike Lee, MSG against the Knicks. I just saw the opportunity and took it."

Should the T-Wolves trade Kevin Love now? Most experts don't give much of a chance that Love will choose to stay in Minnesota. However, the Knicks doesn't have a lot of assets to give back, and there at least a dozen cities that want some Love.
