iPhone 5s Sells Out In India In 24 Hours, Consumers May Wait Weeks Before Next Release Date Arrives

The iPhone 5s release date was officially announced in early September, yet some markets have just received their share of supplies two months later. No wonder the pent-up hype has led to stock shortages and sell outs even in otherwise non-Apple markets.

According to The Times of India, the iPhone 5s immediately sold out in India just 24 hours after it was officially released. While India is considered the third-largest smartphone market, its consumers mostly suscribe to low-cost Android and WP phones which are more 'practical' and 'affordable' to use.

However, according to BGR, 'trade estimates' by firms and analysts have predicted an initial supply of just 30,000 units for the entire semi-continent that has a population of more than a billion.

While this number is certainly not final, even if it is 100,000 units more, selling out in 24 hours might still be inevitable.

We don't know what Apple is thinking here, but if it is asking the Indian market to hold out just a little longer, the company may lose customers instead of gaining more.
