NBA News Update - Kevin Love, Three Others Receive 'Flop' Warnings; Andray Blatche Pays $15k For 'Big Balls' Dance

It's only the second year of the NBA anti-flopping rule. More players get the warnings as part of the penalties, including some certified superstars.

The NBA Commissioner's office handed out new flop warnings along with the videos at nba.com. Kevin Love of the Minnesota Timberwolves leads the second batch of players being given a warning for flops. The others are Corey Brewer, also of the Timberwolves, ZaZa Pachulia of the Milwaukee Bucks and Patty Mills of the San Antonio Spurs. The first player to be called out for flopping is John Wall of the Washington Wizards.

In the game between Minnesota and the New York Knicks, Love was slightly bumped by Tim Hardaway, Jr. while he was holding the ball. Upon review, it was noted that the reaction by Kevin Love was exaggerated. He fell to the floor with a spin, and the referees called a foul on Hardaway.

In contrast, the flops involving Pachulia, Mills and Brewer saw them on the defensive end, as they were trying to draw a charging foul from the players with the ball. In these cases, it was deemed that the defensive players received minimal or incidental contact and they initiated their fall.

Players are given a warning on their first violations of the anti-flopping rule during the regular season.  The next offense will result in cash fines.

Meanwhile, other penalties were handed out by league officials for players conduct on the court. The most notable was the $15,000 fine issued to Andray Blatche of the Brooklyn Nets. This occurred in their win against the Miami Heat. Blatche was actually on the bench, celebrating the three point shot made by teammate Deron Williams. The eagle-eyed sleuths of the NBA noted Blatche making an 'obscene gesture' with his hands on the crotch area, or what is known as the 'Big Balls' dance.

The Big Balls dance is credited to Sam Cassell. The NBA has already deemed this gesture as a 'violation' since 2011. Last year, Marco Belinelli who was with the Chicago Bulls back then was also fined $15,000. The biggest fine was issued to Eddie House, who was fined $25,000 when he shot a game winner against the OKC Thunder last January 2011.
