Michelle Pfeiffer Went From Breatharian to Foodie And Kept Her Shape; Actress Reveals She Was Part of a Controlling Cult That Lived on Sunshine

In her earliest days in Hollywood, Michelle Pfeiffer got involved in a cult that believed that fresh air and sunshine was all you needed to survive. That and a good part.

Before Scarface, before Grease 2, Michelle Pfeiffer says she got caught up with a couple who became her spiritual mentors while she was a struggling actress. The couple thought there was too much food in Pfeiffer’s diet and put her on a daily regimen of sunlight and air. Pfeiffer said the couple put her on diet "nobody can adhere to.” Pfeiffer says, "They believed that people in their highest state were breatharian." The path to enlightenment came through the practice of breatharianism. Breatharians believe air is the only sustenance the body needs.

Yep, take a deep breath. Not too deep or you’ll spoil your dinner.

Pfeiffer says "They were very controlling. I wasn't living with them, but I was there a lot and they were always telling me I needed to come more. I had to pay for all the time I was there, so it was financially very draining."

Pfeiffer continued with the couple until her first husband, actor Peter Horton, who was doing research for a role in a movie about “Moonies,” followers of the Unification Church. She said "We were talking with an ex-Moonie and he was describing the psychological manipulation, and I just clicked." Pfeiffer said she had an epiphany. "I was in one" — a "cult."

According to the Seattle Globalist, at least four people have died attempting to live on breath alone.

Pfeiffer has been making up for lost time. She now considers herself a “foodie.”
