Pokemon X And Y Shiny [VIDEO]: Bottom Screen Variation Allows Modder To Build Chaining Machine, New Kalos TCG Set Features First Ever Fairy Type Trading Card!

Pokemon X and Y have been released, and some more reveals have surfaced related to shiny Pokemon and the trading card game.

Thanks to Pokemon X and Y, the craze of finding shiny Pokemon have come back to the forefront of the franchise. And although strategies have been provided for players to begin the "chaining" process in order to capture shiny Pokemon, one particular gamer has done you one better.

A Youtuber named DekuNukem noticed a slight tic that gives away when a shiny Pokemon is about to appear. Reportedly, the bottom screen of the 3DS remains dark for 12.6 seconds at the start of a shiny Pokemon battle as opposed to 11.4 seconds.

Using this timer, he crafted a machine which chains for shiny Pokemon and alerts him when one is found.

"The controller (Arduino micro) is connected to 3DS button logic through a level shifter since 3DS uses 1.8V logic. Implemented with a 74HC04 hex inverter, I generated a PWM signal, which is put through a low-pass filter then a buffer to obtain 1.8V in order to power the chip."

What does all this mean? Hands-free, automated shiny Pokemon chaining! Check out the video below to see for yourself!

Meanwhile, Pokemon X and Y are getting another lovely addition in the trading card game in the way of the Kalos Starter Set.

This promo set has been released in Japan and the west this week, according to Serebii. It includes 40 brand new Pokemon trading cards and the first ever cards of the Fairy type!
