Tom Cruise And Katie Holmes Divorce Reason Finally Confirmed: ‘Mission Impossible’ Actor Says Ex-Wife Wants To Protect Suri From Scientology

The divorce of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes made people speculate about the real reason behind their falling apart. In his latest court confession, the actor admitted that his former wife opted to break their marriage in order to protect their 7-year-old daughter Suri from Scientology.

Previous reports state that Cruise allegedly wanted to enroll Suri to an elite Scientology boot camp for children. Holmes once embraced the cult religion but she reportedly did not find its teachings convincing.

According to a transcript of the hearing acquired by Radar Online, when the 'Oblivion' actor was asked to confirm the rumors in court, he angrily defended his religion:  "Listen, I find that question offensive. I find it, those statements offensive. Like with any relationship, there are many different levels to it. You know, I, I find it very offensive. There is no need to protect my daughter from my religion."

The court further asked Cruise whether his ex-wife told her that she wanted to get out of their marriage because she didn't want Suri's involvement with Scientology. The 'Top Gun' star replied, "That was one of the assertions, yes."

Cruise had to appear in court in connection to the lawsuit which he filed against Bauer Media. He sued the publishing house for releasing two separate covers in 2012 indicating his negligence as a father to Suri.

The 'Mission Impossible' actor claims that the magazines defamed him for he did not abandon Surii: "I have in no way cut Suri out of my life - whether physically, emotionally, financially or otherwise."

If the court sides with Cruise, Bauer Media might end up paying $50 million to the actor.
