The Conjuring 2 – ‘Annabell’ Scary Doll Will Have Own Spin-Off Movie; Original Writers Want James Wan Back

Last summer's surprise hit, "The Conjuring" has really left a mark on its viewers. After a sequel was promptly finalized, an entirely separate spin-off movie is in the works.

As "The Conjuring" was focused on the cases of the Warren couple, the spin-off will feature the scene stealing doll of our nightmares, Annabell.

The spin-off will be directed by "The Conjuring" director of photography John R. Leonetti. While the expectations will be high and it's difficult to be compared to James Wan, it is expected that the visuals will still bring chills as Leonetti was pivotal in finding the right angles for maximum scare effect.

The Annabell (sometimes spelled "Annabelle") doll was one of the haunted artifacts that Ed and Lorraine Warren kept in their expeditions. It was implied that Annabell was the most notorious, as it kept on changing its position. It is locked inside a case with a stern warning "Positively Do Not Open."

The real Annabell doll, according to History Vs Hollywood, was actually a Raggedy Ann doll. It's not as visually frightful as the wooden Annabell doll in "The Conjuring." However, the stories behind it are more than just creepy. The original owner named Donna received an ordinary Raggedy Ann doll from her mother. The doll began to move when she moved to a seemingly haunted apartment. It reportedly did a lot more than move, as it was known to write childlike messages and even attempt to strangle a man.

The entire case is chronicled in "Annabelle: The Case of the Devil Doll" at warrens.net.

Meanwhile , the Hayes Brothers, the writers of "The Conjuring" are not involved in any way in the spin-off, as they are busy writing full time for The Conjuring sequel. They have expressed a desire to convince James Wan to come back, but they are ready to move on without him.
