The 5-3 Rockets vs 4-4 76ers will be the first of two meetings in 2013. They won't play each other again until March. After starting the season at 3-0, the young 76ers have lost four of their last five, including a blowout loss vs the defending Westrern Conference champion Spurs. Both teams average over 100 PPG (Houston 106.1, Philly 103.3). The Rockets give up 103 PPG while Philly allowed 107. 

The 76ers might have learned something from the blowout loss to the Spurs on Monday.

"The biggest thing we take away is their unselfishness on both sides of the ball," center Spencer Hawes told ESPN. "They sell out defensively and they're excited about making that extra pass on offense. We run the same offense. You look at the way they did it and say: 'That's how it's supposed to be.'"

Philly is getting production from its rookie Michael Carter-Williams who average 17.4 PPG with 7.6 assists, while Evan Turner is having a great season, averaging 23 PPG. Hawes has been a double-double machine for the Sixers, averaging 15.8 PPG and 10.8 RPG.

Houston dropped two in a row for a three-game homestand, before the six-point victory over the Raptors on Monday.

"We can't lose three in a row at home," James Harden, who had 26 points and 10 assists told ESPN. "We are too much of a good team to lose three games. We did whatever it took to pull it out."
