Angelina Jolie Honored At 2013 Governors Awards – The First Time For Both Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt To Be Seen In Public After 3 Months - Maddox Jolie-Pitt Was There Too!

Angelina Jolie is a recipient of an Honorary Oscars at 5th annual Governors Awards of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Her partner Brand Pitt and their oldest son Maddox Jolie-Pitt came along with her on November 16 prestigious event.

Her Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award was based on her work with the United Nations Refugee Agency, which began when she was still filming Lara Croft: Tomb Raider in Cambodia on 2001. On 2011 Jolie was designated as a special envoy for UN Refugee Agency to safeguard the rights and safety of the refugees.

"How does she have time to do all this?" Jolie's co-star Gena Rowlands, in the 1998 film Playing By The Heart, asked while on stage with George Lucas to present the award. "She acts, writes and directs. Has a large family. About 20 at last count. And she has to keep that smile on Brad's face."

"I met Angie a long time ago," Lucas added. "I said the one true thing you can do is have children. I didn't think she'd take me so seriously."

Angelina Jolie was accompanied by her fiancée Brad Pitt when she accepted her award. The philanthropist actress was very emotional during her acceptance speech. "Mad, I'm not gonna cry. I promise, and I won't embarrass you," she joked to her 12-year-old son, who was looking more grown up than ever in a slick black tuxedo.

"You and your brothers and your sisters are my happiness. And there is never a greater honor in this world than being your mom," she continued.

The 38-year old actress and mother of six talked about her work and how she came to be a philantrophist.

"I came into this business young and worried about my own experiences, my own pain. And it was only when I began to travel and look at life beyond my home that I understood my responsibility to others. And I've met survivors of war and famine, rape. I've learned what life is like for most people in this world. And how fortunate I was to have food to eat and a roof over my head, a safe place to live and the joy of having my family safe and healthy. And I have realized how sheltered I have been. And I was determined, never to be that way again."

Together with Angelina Jolie, Steve Martin and Angela Lansbury were honored with Honorary Awards as well. Colin Farrell, Harrison Ford, Amy Adam, Tom Hanks, Jake Gyllenhaal, Diane Keaton, Judd Apatow and many more Hollywood A-listers came to the event, which also paid tribute to Piero Tosi, an Italian costume designer, who was not present during the ceremony.

The ceremony served as a chance for Jolie and Pitt to spend some time together as they have been very busy with their individual projects - the couple were last spotted together during Brad's World War Z premiere in Tokyo three months ago.

According to Us Weekly, both Angelina Jolie and her fiancée Brad Pitt were really affectionate with each other and even shared an intimate kiss on the red carpet.
