Alec Baldwin Daughter Ireland Came To His Defense After Anti-Gay Slur Saying, ‘My Dad Is Far From A Homophobe Or Racist’ – Up Late Show Was Suspended By MSNBC For Two Episodes

Alec Baldwin daughter says that her dad may have been wrong for dropping an anti-gay slur with a camera guy on New York City, calling him a "c**ksucking f*g"  - footage released by TMZ - but that doesn't make him a homophobe.

On Saturday, Alec Baldwin's daughter Ireland posted a tweet on her social media account saying that, "my dad is far from a homophobe or racist"

"Sometimes we let our tempers get the best of us. Tempers are like wildfires. Something or someone can easily fuel the fire," she added.

Meanwhile, Baldwin's new weekly talk show at MSNBC was suspended for two episodes following the controversy that he faces.

The TV network did not give details following the suspension of the Friday night's Up Late with Alec Baldwin talk show from its schedule this week and the following week, however the decision was made after the Thursday incident.

Baldwin wrote a public apology hours before the supposed airing of his show on MSNBC's website saying, "What I said and did this week, as I was trying to protect my family, was offensive and unacceptable. Behavior like this undermines hard-fought rights that I vigorously support. I understand 'Up Late' will be taken off the schedule for tonight and next week."

Baldwin also made a tweeted apology, after the video of his anti-gay slur was posted on TMZ, claiming he was not aware that the term he used was offensive to gays.

As of press time, MSNBC declines to further comment on the issue, while Baldwin's representative told in a Friday night email that the actor will further comment on the issue as well.

Alec Baldwin's anti-gay slur incident came in a week after a Canadian actress name Genevieve Sabourin was convicted in New York for stalking Baldwin with calls, visits and emails in two-year time. The Canadian actress was sentenced to six months imprisonment in addition to a month long service for her courtroom flare-ups.
