Android 4.4 Kit Kat Release Date Brings Bigger Icons And New Widget Features To HTC One GPE,Samsung Galaxy S4 GPE Getting The Update Soon

There was a reason why Google took the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4 and made Google Play Editions of the two. They may not get the latest Android update as fast as the Nexus devices, but they would not get it too late either. And for the former, the Android 4.4 Kit Kat release date may be days away.

In a report by GSM Arena, the HTC US team has reportedly submitted the Android 4.4 KitKat ROM to Google for review. This means it could just be hours or days for the update to roll out for the Google Play Edition of the HTC One.

The report also says that the update will bring new features to the device such as the Project Svelte performance optimization, bigger UI icons, the new Google Hangouts tab which incorporates SMS, MMS and GTalk, and several new apps.

Announced almost a year ago, the HTC One remains one of the top flagships in the market today, and the GPE edition wants to please consumers with timely updates in their devices.

As for the Samsung Galaxy S4 GPE, there's no update yet whether the Korean manufacturer is already working on the KitKat update, but let's hope it would be released sooner rather than later.
