Maria Bartiromo Joining Fox Business After 20 Years at CNBC; Reunites With Roger Ailes

Maria Bartiromo, business news' first TV star, is moving to Fox Business after 20 years at its rival CNBC.

Maria Bartiromo was the first business news reporter to make daily live reports from the floor of the New York Exchange on her show "Closing Bell."  Joey Ramone wrote a song about her.

CNBC confirmed the news yesterday. In a statement thanking Ms. Bartiromo for her 20 years at the cable network saying "After 20 years of groundbreaking work at CNBC, Maria Bartiromo will be leaving the company as her contract expires on November 24th. Her contributions to CNBC are too numerous to list but we thank her for all of her hard work over the years and wish her the best."

Drudge Report broke the news of the Fox Business move on its website.

Maria Bartiromo's program is expected to go over the daily markets developments on Wall Street. Fox News pulls in better numbers than its competitors so Maria Bartiromo will also profit from the increased exposure.

This is a big signing for Fox Business, which doesn't score as high with viewers as its competition. Fox Business had less than 10,000 viewers between the ages of 25 and 54 at an average last week. CNBC pulled in 31,000 viewers of the same group on average.

Maria Bartiromo is one of  the best-known faces on CNBC. When she started on CNBC in 1993, it was being run by Roger Ailes, who is now chairman of Fox News chairman.
