The 13-6-1 Bruins travel to New York City vs the 10-10 Rangers inside Madison Square Garden for a matchup between two playoff hopefuls. Boston has won five of its last six games, including a 4-1 victory last night vs the Carolina Hurricanes. On Sunday, the Rangers lost 1-0 to the L.A. Kings. Henrik Lundqvist made 29 saves, allowing only a second-period goal that deflected in off a teammate's skate.
"It was definitely a frustrating loss because I felt we had enough chances to tie it up and maybe win," Lundqvist told ESPN.com. "We needed some puck luck, and I felt like we didn't have it. Just a really tough, frustrating loss."
If New York loses to the Bruins on Tuesday, it would be the team's third consecutive loss at home for the first time since February 2011.
"I'm disappointed in the outcome of the game, I'm disappointed in a little bit of our execution, but I'm not disappointed with the effort," NYR head coach Alain Vigneault said. "We had the right ideas but things weren't there and we just couldn't get it done."
Boston's penalty kill streak was put to the test Monday, when it was forced to kill a 5-on-3 for 1:03. The Bruins survived and have now killed off 32 straight power plays.
"We won faceoffs and we were in the right place to ice the puck," coach Claude Julien said. "We iced it three times. With 1:03, they could have spent a lot more time in our end, but we didn't give them that opportunity. Our guys were in the right position, so we got what we wanted out of it."
